PERSONAL.—Mr. S. E. Gaskin lias relieved Mr. F. D. Johnson as chief officer of the Kairanga. The latter officer is transferring to the Kaiapoi in a similar capacity in place of Mr. F. G. Mabta, who comes ashore for instructions.
Mr. H. Ruegg has succeeded Mr. N. H. Pearson, second officer of the Kitangata, who has gone on holidays. Mr. A. V. Knight, sfenior third officer of the R.M.S. Niagara, was granted holidays at Sydney this trip. Mr. T. AV. A\ T hite has been appointed chief officer of the Marama, relieving Mr. D. M. Keith for holidays. Mr. E. A. Stein has relieved Mr. E. A. Buckingham as chief officer of the Oonah. The latter officer has been granted holidays. Mr. H. McDougall has joined the Katoa as chief engineer, relieving Mr. A. Sadler for holiday leave. Mr. C. C. Richardson, chief engineer of the Kahika, has been granted holiday leave, his place being taken by Mr. R. G. Houghton. Mr. J. E. Hamer has rejoined the AVaihemo as chief engineer. Mr. V. Boivin has joined the tanker Otokia. as third engineer. Mr. C. V. Holder has joined the Maori as third engineer. Mr. D. McCraig. chief engineer of the Niagara, has been granted holiday leave, his place being taken by Mr. R. Graham. Mr. E. W. Scott has joined the Niagara as third engineer, and Mr. Butchart has joined as sixth engineer. Captain J. L. B. Hunter is coming to New Zealand in command of the steamer Ruapehu, and will rejoin the Rotorua on arrival.
MANUKA FROM MELBOURNE —Due at AVellington to-day from Melbourne direct, the Union Company’s passenger steamer Manuka is o sail again to-mor-row afternoon for Lyttelton, Dunedin. Bluff and Melbourne.
PORT NAPIER TO LOAD.—The C. and D. Line steamer Port Napier will commence loading at New Plymouth on April 18, and will load subsequently at Wanganui, Auckland, Wellington and Lyttelton on May 9. for Rotterdam and London, via Montevideo.
BENHOLM LEAVES NEW YORK.— Under charter to the A. and A. Line, the steamer Benholm is reported to have sailed from New York last AA r ednesday for Auckland, AVellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about the middle of May.
RARANGA AT NAPIER—The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Raranga arrived at Napier last evening from AVanganui and leaves on Thursday for Auckland and Wellington, to complete her loading. She is due here on April 13 and sails finally from Wellington on April 24 for London and West Coast ports, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.
CAMBRIDGE DUE—Wireless advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the Federal Line steamer Cambridge states she will arrive from Liverpool to-morrow evening. The vessel has general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. Cargo for Auckland will be unloaded at Queen’s Wharf.
PORT CURTIS TO LOAD.—The C. and D. Line steamer Port Curtis arrived at Dunedin from Lyttelton on Saturday to complete discharge and to commence loading. The vessel will leave Dunedin to-day to load at Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on April IS, and will sail finally from this port on April 21 for London, via Montevideo*.
MAKURA FOR WELLINGTON—An arrival at Wellington this morning was the Union Company’s R.M.S. Makura from San Francisco and way ports. She is to leave Wellington at 3 p.m. to-mor-row for Sydney.
AORANGI FOR SYDNEY —From Vancouver and way ports, the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aora-ngi is due at Auckland on Sunday, April 21, and is in the meantime announced to sail from here at 10 o’clock on Monday evening, April 22, for Sydney. TOFU A CLEARS APIA —According to advice received by the local office of the Union Company, the Island passenger steamer Tofua left Apia, Samoa, at 4 p.m. last Saturday for Suva and Auckland. She is to clear the Fijian port next Thursday, and is due here on Monday next/
MARAMA FROM SYDNEY—Due at Auckland to-morrow morning from Sydney, the Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Marama fcerths at the Central Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. She is scheduled to leave here at 3 p.m. next Friday on her return trip to Sydney.
OTIRA TO LOAD —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the steamer Otira leaves Dunedin to-day for loading at Gamaru, thence Waikopu. Auckland (April 15 to April 20), and Wellington. She is to clear Wellington finally on April 24 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.
STORSTEN FROM SAN PEDRO.—The Atlantic Union Oil Company advises that the motor-tanker Storsten is expected at Auckland frbm San Pedro to-morrow. The vessel has a full cargo of bulk oil for discharge into the company’s tanks at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney.
TASMANIA AT NAPIER—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tasmania arrived at Napier late last evening from Wellington, and later proceeds to Gisborne and Auckland to complete her loading for New York, Halifax, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel from this port finally early next weke. TAINUI AT WELLINGTON—A. S. Paterson and Company has been advised that the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui berthed at Wellington at 9-30 a.m. to-day from London and Southampton. Passengers are arriving by the express to-morrow and baggage is to leave Wellington by the Wingatui next Friday. The vessel is due at Auckland to-day week to complete her discharge of cargo and to commence loading for her return voyage. HUNTINGDON’S MOVEMENTS—The* Federal Line steamer Huntingdon sailed tor Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Bluff on Saturday morning to etpmpiete discharging geenral merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain. I am£ W ™ GA J E FROM NAURU ISA te , a ™ r Slower gate arrived at Auckland at 12.1 a p.m. yesterday from Nauru Island and berthed later at the Rings Wharf to unload 4,000 tons of ?? o rs ? }° th e agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd. The remainder of the cargo is for Lyttelton. The vessel sailed from Nauru Island on March 27 and experienced strong south-south-east winds and a high head swell almost all the way to Auckland. The boisterous conditions delayed her progress and her decks forward' were repeatedly flooded when she was diving into the swell. Captain F. G. NIAGARA IN PORT.—Short.lv before 6.30 o’clock this morning the Union Company’s R.M.S. Niagara arrived in the stream at Auckland from Sydnev and later berthed at the Prince’s Wharf to land her passengers and mails, and to load for America. The vessel left the New South Wales port last Thursday afternoon and experienced a fair weather passage across the Tasman Sea. The following pssengers disembarked at this port:—
