NEW ZEALANDERS FOURTH ! BEST IN SHOOT AUCKLAND IN HONOURS LIST (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Saturday. The King's Empire tropby miniature rifle-shooting match resulted: South Africa, 1, with an average of 79.9 points out of 100: Canada, 2, 77.6; Britain, 3. 71.7; New Zealand, 4. 61.8. The Australian team did not qualify. There were only 2,592 entries, compared with South Africa’s 12,500. Canada won 234 medals for individual scores of more than 97, and Australia 47. Hamilton (Camada) won the Imperial Challenge Shield with an average of 99.21. Australia has 11 in the honours list, the best scorer being the Royal Australian Naval Reserve, Launceston, sixth, 95.28. The Fremantle Naval Reserve was 19th with 90.32. New Zealand has eight in the honours list, the best scorer being D Company, Fourth Auckland Regiment, 53rd. The report expresses disappointment at Australia’s failure to. qualify, also at the decline in New Zealand’s entries.
