PLAZA AND TIVOLI
“THREE WEEK ENDS” A breezy comedy of millionaires and New York chorus girls is being shown at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres this evening in Clara Bow’s latest and most picture, “Three Week-Ends.” “Three Week-Ends” tells of a little chorus girl who is keen only on marrying a millionaire named Turner, unfortunately falls in love with a mere insurance canvasser, played by Neil Hamilton. The first week-end is the one in which she meets the canvasser. who is at the millionaire’s seeking to get him to sign a policy. But Clara upsets a.ll calculations, and the interview ends with the canvasser knocking out his rich rival. , . , The next week-end she crashes a party at Turner’s £250,000 residence. She goes in a window, corners Turner and puts oyer the deal with some mild “blackmail” (in a nice way). Then Neil, there to apologise to Turner, sees them together. Result: Another red nose for Turner. The third week-end, Gladys is doing K “Laugh. Clown, Laugh" dancing in the chorus with a broken heart. Neil storms in to give her the commission he got because she sold the policy to Turner. Neil hands her the cheque and a lot of angry adverbs. In her postage stamp costume Gladys dashes after him, catches him. explains everything, and they make it up in the middle of the street. An excellently-varied supporting programme is also including a gazette, a comedy, a L.F.A. gem, “Monarch of the Glen,” depicting the life history of the deer, and finally a “Music Master” picture of Johann Strauss, accompanied by a special orchestral score from Howard Moody’s Plaza Symphony Orchestra. At the Tivoli Theatre. Miss M. Anderson’s Orchestra plays “A Country
Girl” for the overture, and the following incidental selections: Four Dances from “The Rebel Maid” (Phillips), "Lady Be Good" (Gershwin), “Princess Charming" (Higgs), “Air de Ballet.” (Borch), “Scarf Dance” (Chaminade), and "Sweethearts" (Herbert).
