“SHOCK TACTICS"

EXTENSION OF TIMBER STRIKE OTHER TRADES INVOLVED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.53 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The Disputes Committee of the Labour Council has decided to extend the timber strike to employees in the building trades. 'JHE council has increased the shilling a week, the levy on union, to two shillings a week as from Monday. Carpenters, plasterers, bricklaj'ers, and builders have been instructed not to handle any timber from several big Sydney yards. The scheme, which is part of the council’s shock tactics, will involve for the first time, workers other than those engaged in the timber industry. At a conference of union officials at Melbourne yesterday, it was decided to leave the timber trade dispute to the workmen originally involved, and to make a levy on the other unions for the support of the idle men.
