COMMERCIAL NEEDS MANAGEMENT CHANGES . (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, Thursday. ' Alteration in the control of the Hail, way Department is a possibility result! ing from the removal of Mr. j. g Hunter, previously assistant to the general manager, to the charge of the Transport Department. Recognising the difficulty of obtaining another man of Mr. Hunter's know, ledge and experience, some railwav quarters believe that the office of divi' sional superintendent will be abolished and the various superintendents recalled to head office, there to forjn , corps assistant to the general manager Other railway officials consider even greater changes will be made. It is recognised by the department that despite the general overhaul of it, activities made during the past year or two, it is not yet as highly commercialised as it would like to be. Matters of detail which it is Impossible for the general manager to decide need the attention of a business man. and tee this reason It is felt that a man of commercial experience and outstanding ability will be sought and asked to accept the position of assistant-manager. In any event, it is agreed that the post held by Mr. Hunter will have a, be raised to higher status and a higher salary paid the appointee.
