BEATS NURMI’S RECORD
TWENTY -FOUR hours after he had run a 9.05 4-5 two-mile race in Boston, Edvin Wide, of Sweden, holder of the world’s outdoor record of 9.01 3-5 for the distance, ran a mediocre field off its legs to win the two-mile test at the National track and field championships at Madison Square Garden on February 23. His time of 9.07 created a new qiiampion* ship record, breaking the previous record of 9.09 3-5, made by Nurmi in 1925.
