SWIMMING AT HAMILTON

CAMPAIGN FOR TEPID BATHS a HAMILTON, Thursday. Considerable interest is centred around the new £14,000 tepid baths proposal for Hamilton. In view of the recently carried £40,000 waterworks loan there are many ratepayers who consider the time inopportune to further burden the ratepayers with what they consider a luxury. Some hold

that there are more important works in the borough that claim first consideration, and that the new baths, although desirable, are not a question of urgency. The sponsors of the scheme, which include the majority of the councillors, have stressed the need for adequate bathing facilities for Hamilton, and have pointed out that the state of the present baths is such that they may not be opened next season, as they are in danger of being condemned by the Health authorities.
