HOUSE RANSACKED

THEFT IN SYMONDS ST. MONEY AND GOODS TAKEN Last evening the residence of Mr, Sam Paul, hairdresser, of 85 Symonds Street, was ransacked while the residents were attending the pictures. A gold watch and chain, a 2'ing, £1 in cash, and other articles to the value of about £3O were stolen altogether. Fortunately, Mr. Paul put a sum of money in his pocket before going out, otherwise the losk would have been heavier. Entrance was gained by breaking a window at the side of the house and unlocking the catch from the inside. The thief left by the front door. Mr. Paul went to a theatre about 7.35 o’clock and returned home at about 10.30. He found the house in disorder and articles from drawers scattered about. A search of the house showed that the articles mentioned were missing.
