CHEESE FACTORY BURNED
DAMAGE OVER £20,000 FORTNIGHT’S PRODUCE LOST (Special to THE SUN) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. Damage estimated at over £20,000 was done by fire last evening to the Whonuapai Dairy Company’s factory four miles south of Patea. A crackling noise in the packing room at about 7.30 attracted the attention of an employee. In spite of strenuous work by the staffs and the Patea brigade the blaze spread, destroying the building in an hour and a-half. A fortnight’s production, about 30 tons of cheese, was also a total loss. The original building was erected 2b years ago, but was practically renewed ten years later. Additions in concrete were completed four years ago. Arrangements have been made lor supplies to be dealt with by «ie company's Matuknroa factory and by the Kakaramea Company, who kindl} “insurances'arc held by the Standard Office. _
