Mackenzie, was welcomed at the meeting of the Auckland Education Board this morning. Mr. A. Burns, the chairman, assured Mrs. Donaldson that she would receive every assistance from the board members and staff. Mrs. X. E. Ferner and Mr. R. Hoe expressed similar sentiments. FANCY DRESS DANCE The annual fancy dress ball of the Swanson Cricket Club was held in the Swanson Hall on Saturday last, when some very pretty and original di'esses were worn. The children’s section was particularly good. Bright music was supplied by the Snappy Six Orchestra under the eonductorship of Mr. Webber. EVENING AT Y.W.C.A. OPENING OF WINTER SEASON To mark the opening or' the winter season for the various Y.W.C.A. clubs, an informal entertainment was given in the Y.W.C.A. building last evening. The programme started with community singing, led by Miss Jean Begg, the general secretary, and then several playlets, some of which were original, were presented. The Campers, the Hostel, the Winowna, the Tres Bon and the Areta Clubs each gave a performance, and Miss Jean Begg gave an address on the value of club work and the opportunities that it gave for selfdevelopment and the development of the powers of leadership. Finally, a demonstration of gymnastic work was given and Miss Cramond spoke on the subject of health education.
