HATED THE LIGHT
SMASHED WINDSCREEN OF CAR PENALTY OF £5 Because the headlights of a car were too strong, M. Marsich threw a stone at them, which smashed the windscreen. For that reason he was charged with mischief at the Police Court this morning. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said the owner of the car was driving along the Orakei Road on March 1 with full lights on when he passed Marsich, who threw a small rock at the car. It bounced off the bonnet and through the windscreen. The car owner went back and spoke to Marsich- about it. When the police went out, Marsich gave a childish excuse. He said the lights were too strong. The thing must have been done in an irresponsible moment. The case for Marsich was that he was a little sub-normal and was startled by the lights, and thought the driver should have dimmed them. He was willing to pay damages. Mr. Cutten: Well, he will be convicted and fined £2, and ordered to pay £ 3 damages.
