ALLEGED ASSAULT
SHELL SHOCK VICTIM CHARGED REMANDED TILL TO-MORROW Charged with assaulting his wife yesterday, Victor Michael Jeffries uppared before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., at the Police Court this morning. Jeffries, a mechanic, asked for a remand till to-morrow, as he had no witnesses available. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said Jeffries was a returned soldier who was suffering from shell-shock. When spoken to after the assault he did not appear to remember anything about it. The police, however, had to protect the wife and children, and wanted to know "hat was the best thing to do under the circumstances. Mr. E. C. Cutten remanded Jeffries until to-morrow.
