TE AWAMUTU ITEMS
Word has been received by Mr. Andrew Kay, of Parawera, of the death of his halt-brother in London, Mr. George Kay, aged 75 years. The late Mr. Kay was a native of Perthshire and came to Hew Zealand about fifty years ago. He settled in the Rangiaohia district, where he farmed successfully for many years. He later took up land at Te Kawa and was for manv years a member of the Waikato Hospital JBoard. After the war he settled in London, but had since revisited Hew Zealand on two occasions. Mr. Kaymarried Miss Lawson, a member of a well-known family in the Te Awamutu district. There were no children and he is survived by his widow. * * * While exercising a trotting horse on the Te Awamutu track on Thursday morning, Mr. Trevor Nicholson, of Frontier Road, was thrown heavily, and when picked up was unconscious and severely lacerated about the face. He was removed to a private hospital, but his injuries are not considered serious. * * * The vital statistics registered in Te Awamutu during March were:—Births, 10; marriages, S; and deaths, 5. For the quarter ended March 31 the figures were:—Births, 32; marriages, 17; and deaths, 11. * * * The Rev. W. J. Enticott, who has for the past year been in charge of the Te Awamutu Methodist Church, was presented with a bound volume by the Ministers’ Association on Tuesday prior to his departure. The Rev. W. Butterworth, in handing over the gift, expressed the wish that Mr. Enticott would quickly win the appreciation not only of his congregation, but also of the whole community in his new sphere of duties.
