TRAIN STRIKES VAN

MOTOR A TOTAL WRECK Press Association DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A level crossing accident occurred in Dunedin this afternoon when a baker’s motor delivery van, owned by Mr. John Abbott, was totally destroyed through colliding with a shunting train at the Hanover Street level crossing. By a miracle neither the driver, Mr. William A. Spence, married, aged about 40 years, nor a boy who was accompanying him, was hurt seriously, although both are suffering from shock. Mr. Spence received a slight cut over the knee, which necessitated treatment at the hospital, but he was able to go home. The boy was unhurt, with, the exception of minor bruises.
