OFF TO ALEXANDRIA
INDIAN AIR MAIL FLIGHT RECEPTION AT ATHENS British Official 'Wireless Reed. 12.26 p.m. RUGBY, Tuesday. The inaugural flight of the England-to-India air-mail service continues to make good progress. Last evening the flying-boat reached Athens from Naples, alighting perfectly on the choppy waters of Phileron Bay. Sir Samuel Hoare and Air Vice-Marshal Vyvyan went ashore to the British Legation, and later dined there with M. Venizelos, the Greek Prime Minister. The flight to Alexandria was continued to-day. ENGLAND TO DURBAN NON-STOP ATTEMPT MACHINE FAILS TO TAKE OFF (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The Royal Air Force Fairey monoplane, which was to attempt a nonstop flight from Cranwell Airdrome, Lincolnshire, to Durban, tried to take off during the week-end with a full load, but failed to leave the ground. The machine, which was piloted by Flight-Lieutenant Jenkins, came to rest dangerously close to a wall on the outskirts of the airdrome. FOR SCHNEIDER CUP ITALY TO TRY NEW BLOOD (Australian and N.Z. Press Association J. Reed. 1.0 p.m. ROME, Tuesday. Italy is entering three seaplanes for the Schneider Cup race. It Is announced that they will be piloted by entirely new officers who are at present undergoing intensive high-speed practice.
