BOROUGH FARMLANDS
RATING VALUATION OF AREAS ONUS ON VALUER-GENERAL “It is not a fair thing that wo are being placed in the position of a tribunal. especially in a small district such as this is, and the onus should be on the Valuer-General,” was the opinion expressed by Mr. T. R. Smytheman, chairman of the Papatoetoe Town Board, at the meeting last evening, when a number of applications for revaluation of farming area under the Municipal Corporations Act was being considered. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, it was decided to forward the available particulars, without any recommendations, to the Valuer-General, for his decision, as follows:—Ten of the areas concerned are used wholly for farming purposes, and are not likely to be required for residential purposes within a reasonable time; two have been subdivided, but are not required at present; three have been subdivided, and have failed to sell, and are being used for farming purposes; one is not likely to be required within a reasonable time; two are not fit for subdivision, and are not likely to be used for residential purposes.
