Reed. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. At the opening of the yearling sales at Randwick bidding was quiet. The top price, l,6oogns, was paid by the New Zealander, Mr. C. Elgar (owner of Vertigern) for a Rossendale —Demerter colt. A Spearhead—Battery Queen colt, already named Vagabond King, fetched 1.350gn5, going to a Victorian, Mr. F. Musgrove.

Other New Zealand buyers wer e - Mrs. R. I. Caro (owner of Wenduv) a Polycrates—Black Tea filly, 90gns. An Eaton Lad—Sidorus gelding brought 40gns, and a Beaufort—Lady Sindhia colt 45gns. both being knocked down to Mrs. Caro. Mr. J. W. Cathro (Avondale). p ur chased a Hades—The Kettle gelding for 60gns, and a Dighton— Patrine gelding for 50gns.
