HISTORY OF PNEUMATIC TYRES

The first motor-car tyre was invented and introduced by Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., in 1906. This was the straight-side tyre. In 1914 a big advancement was made on this when the idea of a multiple-ply cord tyre was suggested. The principle of this construction is still being used in the manufacture of motor-car j tyres. The next big development was not brought out until 1924 when, after much research and testing, the bal-; loon tyre was put on the market. And ! now the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., celebrate their 30th anniversary by producing the greatest tyre to date —the Double Eagle. This tyre is the supreme achievement of the tyre industry, embodying as it does extraordinary long mileage and freedom from ordinary tyre troubles.
