SUNDAY PICNICS
PROTEST AGAINST TRAINS MINISTER NON-COMMITTAL Press Association DUNEDIN, To-day. A deputation representing the Council of Christian Congregations waited on the Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Railways, this morning, protesting against the increasing number of Sunday railway excursions and the Railway Department advertising them, as tending to lower the morals of the community. In a non-committal reply, the Minister said that simila.r representations were to be made to him in other cities, and he promised all arguments would receive the greatest possible consideration. He pointed out there was another side to the question. The demand for Sunday trains existed or the department would not fill it.
