I’M ALONE CASE
ALLEGATIONS OF CONSPIRACY (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N~.Z. Press Association) NEW ORLEANS, Friday. An item in the “Tribune” newspaper states that it has learned “upon the highest authority” that the conspiracy charges against Captain Randell and members of the crew of the I’m Alone would be dropped. Charges were prepared last Monday by the Federal attorneys at New Orleans, alleging conspiracy to violate the Tariff Act, based on the I’m Alone’s visit on March 20. Before the charges were filed, however, attention was called to the fact that there had been no overt act. The charges were then hastily changed to make the alleged conspiracy apply to the alleged offence in December.
