Mrs. Derig and a companion arrived home at 5.45 o’clock on Saturday evening and found a window forefeel open at the rear of the house. An evening dress was pulled inside out, new hats belor.ing to Mrs. Derig were on the floor a* d a good suit was torn an,d spoiled. The loss and damage to personal possessions is considered to be much greater than the actual loss in money. A child’s moneybox was included iu the haul, and was found empty, hidden under other things on a quilt in the front bedroom. Papers were tossed right and left around the room. Everything that could be thrown into disorder was ransacked. Entry was gained by the use of a pair of garden shears, which were tried first, and then a large pair of scissors, which were broken in the attempt. The catch was prised off the window

Between noon and 7.30 o’clock yesterday the house of Mrs. Royce Nieholls, Smart’s Road, Remuera, was entered and a quantity of silver goods stolen.
