LOCARNO’S HURDLES RICHFIELD A WINNER Press Association FEILDING, To - day. For the first day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s meeting the weather was dull but fine. The track was good after two days’ rain. Results: KAWAKAWA HACK HURDLES Of £150; about 1J miles. 1— LOCARNO, 11.9 1 2 RED BANK, 9.9 2 4—ROYAL ACRE, 10.3 3 Scr.: Sir Moment, Hymestrason. Won by a neck, three lengths between second and third. Time, 2.53. Locarno, a warm favourite, was always prominent in the ivawakawa Hurdles. Red Bank tackled him three furlongs from home and, in a good finish, Locarno won by a neck, with Royal Acre three lengths away third, and Airtight fourth. ONGO HACK HANDICAP Of £150; sjli furlongs 3 COOL MINT, 9.5 2 3—INFLAME, 8.13 3 Scr.: Seamstress. Won by two lengths, three-quarters of a length between second and third. Time, 1.8 3-5. For the Ongo Hack Handicap, Grand Acre and Fee Simple (£627) wound up a slightly better favourite than Cool Mint (£617) and Inflame (£507), but a surprise was forthcoming when Richfield drew away in the run home to win very comfortably. Inflame, was. as usual, smartest to begin and led to the straight, but Richfield shot out to finish full of running two and ahalf lengths ahead of Cool Mint, who got up to beat Inflame by three-parts of a length. White Ringlet was fourth, with Fee Simple and Ali Baba nexL MANCHESTER HANDICAP Of £500; 14 miles. 1— STAR AREA, 9.0 1 6— ORAZONE, 7.10 2 2 MERRY DAMON, 8.9 3 Scratched: Gold Cure, Manly. Won by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time, 2.10 2-5. MAIDEN STAKES 6 furlongs; all 8.0 MALAHAT 1 ORAL 2 GAMBLER 3
