Hyde Park Beats Toxeuma
CLIMATIC conditions favoured the Auckland Racing Club at Ellerslie to-day, the weather having cleared up considerably by the time the first event came up for decision. A strong south-easterly wind, however, did not tend to improve matters. Results are:—

All got away nicely to a splendid start, Toxeuma leading past the stand closely attended by Sleepy Sol, Eager Rose, Desert Glow, The Lover, Hyde Park and Wenday, and but for Hyde Park slightly improving his position there was little material alteration in the next three furlongs. At the half-mile post Eager Ruse was out two lengths clear of Toxeuma and Sleepy Sol (together), this pair being attended by Hyde Park, Sir Archie, Desert Glow, Queen Arch, Corinax and The Lover, and this was the order into the straight. Eager Rose hung on in game fashion, but Hyde Park and Toxeuma had too much in reserve, the former going on to score by two and a-half lengths. Eager Rose was third, three lengths away, and then followed Corinax, Queen Arch, The Lover, Wenday, Sleepy Sol, Desert Glow, Sir Archie and Glenstar, who was allowed to ease up.
