PORT PASSENGERS FIGURES

DEPARTURES DOUBLE ARRIVALS Nearly twice as many boat passengers left Auckland during March than arrived here from overseas. During March, 34 vessels from overseas ports reached Auckland, compared with 20 in the preceding month. The number of inward passengers was 986, as against 1,555 during February. The number of vessels leaving Auckland for overseas destinations was 16, as against 15 in January. Included in the departures were six mail vessels, and these each carried nearly 300 passengers, this accounting for the large total of outward passengers, 1,974, an increase of 623 compared with February.
