ONEHUNGA FIRE BOARD
NEW MEMBERS APPROVED The Minister of Internal Aflairs has approved of the following members fo\ the Onehunga Fire Board for the year ending March 31, 1930: Messrs. W « Kemble and H. G. Brialev (insuran* r companies). R. G. Speight and W. r Hill (Onehunga Borough Council', and W. W. Warnock ). At the board’s annual meeting, held at the Onehunga Fire Station last evening, Mr. W. C. Kemble. J.P., was unanimously re-elected chairman, and Messrs. Speight, Hill and Brialey the Fire Brigade Committee. It was reported that the chassis of a used Cadillac motor-car had benn purchased out of revenue, and v are to be called for converting it into an auxiliary fire-tender. The superintendent of the brigade Mr. C. E. Gilbert, reported that during the past year the brigade had attended 37 fires, also that the plant, gear, firealarm system were in first-class condition. Estimates for the ensuing year were passed amounting to £1.783, as against £1,755 for the current year. Of this amount the Government contributes £75, the borough council and the insurance companies providing the balance in equal proportions.
