JAMIESON’S STABLE STILL HOLDS A STRONG HAND

Sine© his return in the late spring from a successful trip to Australia, Takanini trainer J. T. Jamieson has enjoyed a good run for a fair shaie of success. He has a strong team paid up for Saturday at Ellerslie, and several of them appear certain to get in the money. Whether they will pay to follow, however, is rather a different question, for all the races, outside of the classics, are going to be difficult to win. , . T The following horses trained by J. T. Jamieson were accepted for Saturday’s events when the payments became due last Friday:—President’s Handicap—Tidal and Ti Tree. Great Northern Oaks —Mithra. Easter Handicap—ln the Shade and Lorient 11. , j G.N. Champagne Stakes —Eaglet and Polyxena. There are seven horses in the above, list, and in the cases where two of his are in the same race none will be bracketed, for they race in different ownership. it is interesting to note that Mr. C. G. Macindoe. the principal patron of trainer Jamieson last season, has only one horse engaged on Saturday, Ti Tree, and this may be taken as proof that this sportsman has effected a big reduction in his team of late moi/lis

Prodice’s Consistency So far this season Prodice has raced most consistently, and has Avon three races, been second twice, and third once, only being out of a place on four occasions. The filly is in the Oaks on Saturday, and the St. Leger on Monday, and she should earn further distinction before the meeting at headquarters concludes. Crack Filly Gay Ballerina avus given light exercise at Awapuni on Tuesday on the course proper by C. Bracken, the oldtime hurdle horseman, who is now attached to G. Jones’s stable. The Lord Quex filly was down on her knees prior to the start of the Manavvatu Stakes and in getting up she apparently strained her kidneys. However, she has made a good recovery and will take her place in the Champagne Stakes on Saturday. The Turf Register Coming to hand at it most opportune time, the New Zealand Turf Register is sure to be in keen demand to-day, in view of the many Easter racing and trotting carnivals opening on Saturday. The pocket edition of the Turf Register covers a period from December 1, 1928, to March 18, so that as a guide to the form shown right up to Tuesday of last week it will prove invaluable to speculators, and absolutely essential to owners and trainers. The Turf Register is procurable from all booksellers, or direct from the publishers, the Christchurch Press Company, Christchurch.
