WEST COASTERS MEET
NEW ASSOCIATION FORMED The reputed clannishness of West Coasters was demonstrated in a marked degree when over 120 ex-Coasters congregated last evening in the Scots Hall, Symonds Street. 1/[R. F. W. SCHRAMM occupied the chair, and outlined the aims and objects of the association, the chief of. which was sociability. The speaker referred to th© fine oi*ganisation the ex-Coasters had in Wellington and expressed th© opinion that the movement could be successfully organised in Auckland, as a branch of the Wellington society. It was unanimously resolved, amid enthusiasm, to form the association, and the following officers were elected: President, Mr. F. W. Schramm: vicepresidents, Messrs. J. Sullivan, J. Hall, C. de Berry, ‘L. Lord, C. Wainright; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr, B. Cox; executive, Messrs. H. Montgomery, C. A’Court, J. Manzone, M. F. O’Brien, J. Thurlow. Various proposals for the promotion of sociability among West Coasters were discussed, and it was decided to hold a social on Wednesday, April 24. A women’s committee was appointed to make all arrangements for the function, which it is intended will be the forerunner cf similar entertainments.
