BUSY RAILWAYS
RUSH SETS IN TO-DAY EXTRA CARS ON TRAINS So great is the rush for train accommodation to-day that extra cars are being placed on every train leaving Auckland, except the Limited. It is expected that by this evening every available railway carriage will be in use either on the main or suburban lines. This morning the booking office was a hive of industry, with telephone bells continuously breaking in on strings of questions. Would-be travellers, with no minds of their own, harassed the officials. Every train leaving Auckland this morning was filled, and extra cars had to be put on to cope with the crowd leaving for Rotorua. This evening the big rush will take place. Three trains are leaving for Wellington. No extra cars can be put on the Limited, but at this morning’s rate of booking the second and third expresses will be made up to 20 cars. Even then it may be necessarv to split one of the expresses and mak“ two of it. It may also be necessary to put on another train for Wellington tomorrow evening, making four expresses in all leaving for the South. Three expresses reached Auckland from Wellington this morning, ard all were filled with excursionists. With the prospects of fine weathc-r, many people are leaving the city for the holiday resorts, and it is expected that the railways will enjoy a record season. _
