For three years the following doctors will hold positions on the honorary medical state of the Auckland Hospim The appointments were made by ballot at a special meeting of the Ho*! pital Board yesterday afternoon, and are as follow:

The board decided to increase the total number of surgeons, assistantsurgeons and anaesthetists from 18 to 24, eight in each division instead of six as formerly. Five of the surgeons who previously held positions were reappointed, and the other three, Dr. Kenneth MacCormick, Dr. Spedding and Dr. Moore, being promoted from assistant-sur-geons. Twelve applications were received for the positions of surgeons, a similar number seeking positions as assistant-surgeons, the eight chosen being all newly-elected. Dr. Dreadon, who has been ap. pointed an assistant-surgeon, was an ear, nos© and throat surgeon previously. All those physicians who previously held positions were reappointed from 11 applicants. Three ballots were required to select the eight anaesthetists required from 24 applicants, ajid reappointments were made in five cases, the new appointments being Dr. Fullerton, Dr. Hudson and Dr. Mackay. In other divisions reappointments were made in every case, exoept that of Dr. Blomfield, assistant ear, nose and throat surgeon. The appointments will date from April 1.
