FROM TYPIST TO STAR
Several years ago there was a little typist working in the offices of the London Alhambra Theatre, and when they were showing “Broken Blossoms,” a Lillian Gish picture, she was selected to represent that well-known American actress in a prologue to the picture. Recently a distinguished London audience claimed her as England’s greatest screen actress. The little girl was Mabel Poulton, who was selected for the leading part of “Tessa” in the screen version of “The Constant Nymph.” Her work as the fragrant, delicate “Tessa” is one of the most delightful things ever seen on the. screen. “The Constant Nymph” is a triumph of British screen craft. It has been built up by a skilful combination of art and technique.
