LEAGUE FOOTBALL

AKARANA CLUB At the annual meeting of the Akarana Teague Club, Mr. R. Ninkie, presiding. the balance-sheet of the club showed the club's financial position to "be cash and assets £37 3s sd. The chairman referred to the success of the club, and also its progressive spirit. An amount of £49 had been spent during the three years’ existence on gear, while each year the club has sent a team on tour. These tours have been undertaken by the club, which furnished all expenses, and last year the most ambitious tour was undertaken—the trip to Christchurch. This was a credit to the club, as the expenses incurred were £lls, which was raised by social functions throughout the season.

Officers for the 1929 season were elected as follow: President, Mr. TI. Frost: delegate to J.M.C., Mr. R. Ninkie; club captain, Mr. F. Hayward; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. O. Rees.
