£5,000 STEEPLECHASE
! The committee of the Victoria RacI ing Club has decided to raise the added i money to the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase from £2,000 to £5,000. | The winner’s share of the prize this j year will be £3,500, the owner of the j second horse will receive £I,OOO, and I the owner of the third £SOO. This | places the V.R.C. Grand National ; Steeplechase on a level with the Livi erpool Grand National. The difference between the Victorian race and the Liverpool Grand National will be in the different amount of the sweepstakes. At Flemington. all of the swieepstakes will be paid to the winner, bui. whereas the sweepstake in England is £IOO, plus the jockey’s fee. the sweepstakes in Melbourne will be £3O, including the jockey’s fee. A condition attached to the race is that the maximum shall not exceed 12.7.
