The Riga correspondent of ‘‘The Times” says that Eastertide' will

be made the occasion of a great “Anti-God” campaign in Russia.

“Greater efforts must be made to fight religious bodies, which are re gaining more ground among the masses/' says Lenin’s widow, writing in the official Soviet organ, “Izvestia

The newspaper announces that great preparations are being made, especially for Easter eve, when all the theatres, cinemas and Soviet clubs will give special ‘ anti-God” shows, in order to attract the masses away from midnight services of the orthodox church.

The newspaper goes on to say that the authorities in 192 S closed 351 churches. 3S monasteries. 59 synagogues, 38 mosques and 53 other religious establishments. Steps have already been taken to close 253 this year. Ninety-flve of the closed churches are being used as schools, and the remainder as clubs, places of entertainment, and hoardinghouses.
