STOLE FROM EMPLOYER
MARRIED MAN’S THEFTS
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE
Admitting that he had stolen from his employer during the last three months of 1928, Walter Eric Harland was remanded for sentence until Thursday, when he appeared at the Police Court this morning.
Harland. a dental mechanic, aged 2G, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing various amounts totalling £7 16s 6d from C. L. Innes and Co.
According to Detective-Sergeant Bickerdike, accused had been employed by Innes and Co. as a driver. It had been his duty to collect money for goods delivered, and he had converted certain sums to his own use. He had held the position for 14 months and left in December. Harland was a married man, separated from his wife, though, the DetectiveSergeant understood, they intended to live together again. There was a complaint under the Destitute Persons Act against the man for the support of his two children, but it was probable that the wife would withdraw it. “It is five years since Harland was last in trouble,” concluded the DetectiveSergeant.
