FIRE DEMONSTRATION

PAPAKURA COMPETITIONS

Tlie annual demonstration of the Papakura and Pukekohe Fire Brigades took place in Papakura on Saturday afternoon. The wet events took, place in Marne Road, and tlie dry events opposite the fire station. The competitions were watched by a number of interested residents. The judge was ex-Superin-tendent T. Scott, of West Tamaki. The Walter Wright Cup was won by Pukekohe in the following events: Twomen event—Pukekohe, 44 l-ssec: Papakura. 47sec. Three-men disabled hose— Pukekohe, 50sec: Papakura, 59sec. Threemen draw for places—Papakura, 31 1-5 sec: Pukekohe, 34 4-sseo. The Gilbert Memorial Cup competition resulted as follows: C. Walker, 1; C. Thorburn, 2: J. Richardson, 3. In the one-man coupling event, C. Walker was first, and C Thorburn second. A smoke concert was held in the evening at the Paragon Theatre. Mr. H. K. McEntee, chairman of the Fire Brigade Committee, presiding over a large attendance. The following brigades were represented: Morrinsville, Pukekohe. Papatoetoe, Otahuliu, Ellerslie, onehunga, and Tamaki.
