FAITHFUL PILOT DEAD

(Special to THE' SUN) WANGANUI, To-day. The Wanganui Fire Brigade is mourning the Joss of its mascot. Snick, a lively terrier, -whose habit it has been to pilot the engine to fires. (Snick, the best known dog in the town, had his headquarters at the station, and as soon as an alarm ■went, he waited at the doors until they opened, and then he would run down the street in front of the speeding engine. It was while engaged on this pilot duty that he met his death. Snick, instead of keeping his accustomed distance. slowed down, and was run over by the flying wheels of his own engine.
