After his experience of missing ♦he chance of a stake with Etta Cole at Hamilton recently, owner F. J. Docherty is taking no risk of a similar happening for Hawera. Trainer F. Gilchrist is due to ieave by steame** to-day with the Auckland trotting idol, who is nicely placed in the Manaia Handicap on 36yds. The owner of the chestnut mare intends reaching Hawera on Saturday in time to see Etta race, and incidentally to receive a cheque from the secretary.
