MR. CHARLES STOREY ' The death has occurred of Mr. Charles Storey, well-known mining engineer, at the age of 57. Born in Scotland, the son of a medical practitioner, he studied geology, obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, and qualified as a consulting and mining engineer. JJefore coming to New Zealand he practised in the United States and Australia, and in the Dominion he investigated and reported upon many mining ventures. j Mr. Storey is survived by his wife ; and family. MR. THOMAS FINLAY A well-known Auckland business man, Mr. Thomas Finlay, died yesterday after a brief illness, at the age of 69." Born in Ontario, Canada, Mr. Finlay was one of a family of 12, who with their parents came to New Zealand in 1868 in the sailing vessel Algernon, arriving in Nelson. In *his earlier years he was in business at Waluku. but later he had lived at Mount Albert for many years. Mr. Finlay is survived by six sons and two daughters. MR. JOHN W. CURTIS Mr. John W. Curtis, who has died at the age of 66, was born in rfurrey, and came to New Zealand in the ship Jessie Redmond. He served his apprenticeship in the butchery trade at Napier, and on coming to Auckland was for many years in the employ of R. and W. Hellaby, Ltd. For five , years he was in business at Stratford, i but he returned to Auckland, and j joined the Auckland Meat Company, j being connected with the firm until his ] death. For 25 years Mr. Curtis, who possess d her of St. Mary’s Cathedral choir, and later of St. George’s, Kingsland. He was a member of the Auckland Choral 1 Society during the conductorship of j Mr. Carl Schmitt, and he was also a member of the present society. Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife ! and three daughters—Mrs. C. H. Veniraore, of Hamilton: Mrs. E. H. Page, and Mrs. A. J. Emery, of Auckland. A sister is Mrs. M. A. J. Cass, of Napier. A service at the home in Edendale Road was conducted by the Rev. J. Cable, and the funeral was attend--.I by members of the Masonic Lodge, Auckland, No. 87. and the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows.
