TO HELP THE SICK

FETE AT MT. EDEN On Saturday a garden party and fete in aid of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was opened in the grounds of the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Potter, of Mount Eden. The fete continued through the afternoon and on into the evening, when the grounds were illuminated. The garden was charming under the hot sun, with the brightly decorated stalls scattered through the trees. | Every kind of stall was there, with J many side-shows and amusements, and the attendants worked hard to ensure tlie enjoyment of the crowd. Mr E. H. Potter, Mayor of Mount Eden, declared the fete open after a short speech, in which he spoke of the work that the auxiliary was doing, and of the great need for support of it. During tlie afternoon tennis was played, and an exhibition of dancing was given by pupils of Miss Nettleton, The exhibition was repeated in the evening. Music was played by Miss Tomlinson. The stalls and stallholders of the day were as follow: Sweets stall, Mrs. Hooten and Mrs. Hutchinson; produce stall, Mrs. Thomas, Airs. Gallaher, Airs. Addison, and Airs. Marks; demonstration stall, Airs. Wall and Airs. Deceraux; home-made cake stall, Mrs. Morris and Airs. Lange; guessing competition, Airs. Sturrow-Rigby and Aliss Payne; cabbage patch. Airs. Watson and Aliss "Watson; lucky dips and fish pond. Airs. Cox and Aliss Will; shooting gallery. Air. Whitehead: ice cream stall, Aliss Anderson: jumble stall. Airs. Whelan and Airs. Alason; tea rooms, Mrs. Whitehead and Airs. Sheldon: treasurer, Airs. J. Rogers; swing, Master Walter Reeveley.
