HEAVY BUTTER SUPPLIES
EFFECT ON LONDON MARKET (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Saturday. The position of the butter market continues to be unsatisfactory, chiefly on ac* count of the countiued heavy shipments from Australia and New Zealand. The quantities afloat to the United Kingdom from Australia, New Zealand and the Argentine on March 21 were 699,000 boxes, which is 177,000 boxes more than at the corresponding period of 1928. Another depressing factor is the weakness of the Danish market, owing to the lack of demand from Germany. The consequence is that Danish supplies to England have heavily increased, and the official quotation was lowered this week by 25 kroner (about 275) a 100 kilograms (about 2241 b), and the present value, in London is about 30s a cwt. lower than a year ago.
