A Buoyant Market Greater Activity in Mining j By “Noon Call.” A BUOYANT market, with a greater interest registered iu the more speculative securities, was one of the features of business at the week's opening calls on ’Change this
morning. fluctuations Price movements shown by comparison of sales over the past 24 Pours with the price at the time of the previous recorded sale are: Taupiri Coal, fall of 3d. N.Z. Guar. Corp.. fall of Id. Bank ot' N.Z.. fall of 3d. Bank of N.S.W., rise of ss. Waihi Mining, rise of 2d. A quiet, but healthy tone is registered in the banking group. The downward movement of New Zealands persists, and business was done in the ordinary issue at 61s 9d this morning, t>d below the market a week ago, and 2s below that a month ago. New fciouth Wales show a firming tendency. Coals are very quiet, showing no tendency to move to higher levels at the moment. Taupiris saw the only sale during the morning on a market 3d below that at the time of the lust sale. Pukeiniros are, if anything, slightly easier with holders showing more inclination to sell. TJttle movement worthy of note has Jbeen registered in the miscellaneous
j section. A buyer came in for Colonial i Sugars again this morning, but sellers were not attracted sufficiently to make a declaration. Taranaki Oils were dealt with at 4s 6d, the market closing with a slightly easier tone. Waihis are again moving upwards in the mining group and sales were made in the call room at mid-day at 13s Bd, 2d above Saturday’s market, and 5d above the market a week ago. Greater attention is being paid to the betterknown scrip in this section. Mount Lyells are very firm at last week’s improved prices. Business at this morning’s early call. —On ’Change: Mount Byell Mining, 44s 9d; Ohinemuri Mining, 8s sd; Taranaki Oils, 4s 6d. Reported: Kempthorne Prosser’s New Zealand Drug. 81s.
