AUCKLAND’S BUTTERFAT
PRODUCTION KEEPING UP INCREASE OF 15 PER CENT. Production cf dairy produce throuighout the province continues i to be maintained on very satisfactory levels. | The yield for the season to date | shows an increase of over 15 per cent, j above that for the corresponding period of last season. Returns for the last fortnight are over 2 6 per cent, j higher than those for the correspondj ing period of last season. The quantities of dairy produce received at the city grading stores during the fortnight, over 75,800 boxes of butter and B,ouo crates of cheese, represent an increase of 14,000 boxes of butter and 2,500 crates of cheese over the corresponding period of last year. Considered in terms of butter-fat, the returns represent an increase in production of nearly 24 per cent, and over 45 per cent, respectively. During the present season to date 1,845,540 boxes of butter and 154,002 crates of cheese have been received into store. The corresponding figures in the preceding season were 1,605,562 boxes of butter and 127,237 crates of cheese. The aggregate butter-fat production was 96,750,5101 b in 1928-29, and 83,745,919 in 1927-28. Following is a summary of the number of boxes of butter and crates of cheese received at the grading stores of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company during the fortnight i ended on Wednesday, followed by the receipts for the season to date and the quantity in store on March 20, with comparisons for the corresponding periods of the last dairying year in each case:—
