GOOD ONES MISSING

THE defection of Aussie from the A.R.C. Easter Handicap field was not unexpected, but the failure of Paganelli and Pegaway to pay up furnished a mild surprise. There was the usual number of horses on the minimum to drop out last evening, but apart from these and the three quoted above the missing include Joy King, Cimabue, Gascony, The Hawk, Great Charter, Seatown and Joy Bird. A field of 17 has been left in next Saturday's big race, so that there is plenty of material. However, the defection of all but three of the ten horses weighted at and over 8.0 has robbed the event of a lot of interest. All the same, it is going to be a good contest to watch.
