TAR-SEALING OFFER
REJECTED BY COUNCIL ROAD AT BAYSWATER Cr. .T. Davis, a member of the Taka, puna. Borough Council, holds that it not in the best interests of the b)rougjj to decline the offer of the Auckland Gas Company to tar-seal with two coata of half-inch blue metal, the gap i n concrete main road at Bayswater. Cr. Davis has stated his intention to move at the next meeting of the council that the resolution should be rescinded. The assistant-engineer had csti, mated the cost of a light bitumen thoroughfare to bo £7Bl. and the Gas Company had offered to lay down a road at a width of ISft for £3OO, or of 20ft. for £333 13s 4d. After an ad, verse report from the borough engineer. the offer was rejected.
