Nat. Madison will bring a newlyformed company to the Palace Theatre, Sydney, on April 13 to play the mystery drama, “No. 17.” This is located inside and outside a certain house, and the scenes outside are played in a fog. “The Masquerader” started in this way. Bertha Riccardo is to be leading lady. “No. 17” is by Jefferson Fargeon, a well-known English dramatic critic. The J. C. Williamson Company is forming a special company to tour the Australian country centres with a selection of musical plays which have become proved successes. The decision to organise a touring company of 70, the largest yet formed, has been prompted by the success of the second “Rose Marie” Company, which has just completed a tour. The new company will stage “The Desert Song,” “The Student Prince” and “The Maid of the Mountains” in Hobart toward the end of March and then tour in various provincial centres. Another touring company will be organised in May. It will present “The Girl Friend,” “Hit the Deck” and “Tell Me I More” in country centres.
