CHAINS NECESSARY
CLAY ROADS IN BAD ORDER The heavy rain of the past week has made chains necessary for cars traversing all clay roads. The A.A.A. reports that he Bombay deviation is now being avoided by most drivers. It points out the lack of consideration displayed by some motorists who stop on the Bombay hills, put large stones under their wheels, and then drive on leaving the stones on the road. Pot holes and corrugations mar the road between the concrete and Bombay. The Paeroa-Pokeno highway is not in good order, and is greasy in parts. Holiday motorists next week-end are advised against using the Wanga-nui-Raetihi road via Parapara owing to the large amount of reconstruction work in progress. The Taihape-Ohakune road should be metalled throughout at Easter,
