AUCKLAND DAHLIA SHOW Opening the annual dahlia show ofl the Auckland Horticultural Society i yesterday afternoon tho president of the society, Sir Edwin Mitchelson, K. C. M .Gsaid the fixture was far superior to any previous one, and it would be difficult to find anywhere else such a magnificent collection of blooms. Seedling dahlias especially were a picture of perfection. Rain at the beginning of the week had, unfortunately meant a lessening of the exhibits, it was hoped to obtain the Town Hall for future shows. Tho following championship awards were made by the judges: Cactus Dahlia.—Mr. Harris’s “Torchlight.” Dahlia.—D. Hay and Sons’ Sir Charles Fergusson.” Giant Decorative.—A. J. Shailer’s Eleanor Van do Vere ” Hybrid Cactus.—G. W. Wrights Gladys Sherwood.’’ The exhibition, which is being held in the Municipal Hall, Newmarket, will close this evening.
