AUCKLAND-MAUNGATUROTO METALLING GOING AHEAD Both the Auckland and the Durgaville Chambers of Commerce, in response to inquiries, have been assured by the Main Highways Board that work is being pushed ahead in metalling clay stretches on the highway between Auckland and Maungaturoto. The Auckland chamber has now received a communication from Mr. F. W. Furkert, chairman of the Main Highways Board, to the effect that over 600 men are now engaged on the road, and the work is advancing steadily. It was expected that the cash appropriation of £50,000 for the work would be expended by March 31.
