TAUMARUNUI TOPICS
Arrangements for the annual winter show, to be held in May, are well forward, and very widespread interest is being taken in the event. Over 60 new classes have been added this year, and in addition the poultry club has succeeded in having several championship competitive classes secured for Taumarunui. Prize donations have been so liberal in this connection that it has been possible to award a special prize in each class. The poultry judge will be Mr. W. A. Hansen, of Auckland, and Mr. McDonald, of Wanganui, will judge the pigeons. The special prize of a year’s free subscription given by The Sun is to be awarded to the competitor entering the most exhibits at the show. This prize last year was won by Mrs. A. W. Collett.
The members of the Taumarunui Boys’ Band were engaged to play at the Taihape Sports, and met with a most cordial reception. This is the second occasion on which the band has been engaged for this big meeting, and the managers, Messrs. S. R. Dryland and G. S. Manson. were officially complimented on The performance of the band, and on the deportment of the members individually, which was stated to be a credit to the town they represented.
