AGAINST MILITARISM
W.C.T.U. RESOLUTION OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union to-day passed a resolution reaffirming its belief that the present system of compulsory military training was the main cause of the existence of the military spirit manifested in the community, especially in the minds of the young. The resolution asked all to use their influence and work unceasingly for the abolition of the system and the institution of a system of compulsory physical training in its place. Support of the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill was reaffirmed. A resolution providing “That the recent disclosures with regard to sick nurses should be thoroughly investigated,” was also passed. The following officers were elected: Dominion president, Mrs. T. E. Taylor; Dominion vice-president, Mrs. Hiett; Dominion correspondence secretary, Mrs. Henderson: recording secretary, Mrs. Evans; treasurer, Miss Lovell - Smith.
